how do you cure lymphoma?
My mum had Breast Cancer earlier this year. She had Radiation on it and it has killed the cancer but it has also killed the lymph-nodes under he left arm. Now her arm is all swollen and tight, it has been like this for about 2 months. She has had acupuncture, reflexology, massages, wrapped it in lectric soda and she holds it up to try and drain the fluid out of her arm but it just doesn't work. She also had breast cancer in 2001 and she had chemotherapy then. If anybody has any suggestions it would be a big help! thanks
Lymphoma is a type of cancer that actually originates in the lymph nodes. The two types are Hodgkin's Disease and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Cancer that originates somewhere else (like the breast) and spreads to the lymph nodes is NOT lymphoma; rather, it is called metastatic cancer.
What you're referring to is a condition called lymphadema. Lymphadema is not a type of lymphoma or a type of cancer; rather, it is a condition caused by damage to the lymphatic system, resulting in problems with drainage. I have this in one arm from damage from very large masses caused by Hodgkin's Disease, but it's much more common in breast cancer. It sounds like she has already tried many things, but I'm including some links below that may have other options to try. My lymphadema is very slight, and as long as I avoid lifting heavy things and needle sticks on that side, my arm does ok. I hope you find something helpful for you mom.
